ADTRAN Unveils Innovative Voice Quality Monitoring Technology in NetVanta and Total Access VoIP Platforms: Graphical User Interface Eases Monitorin
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (Business Wire EON) April 13, 2008 -- ADTRAN's VQM is unique in that it provides a graphical interface that allows network administrators to view both active and historical VoIP call statistics. The easy-to-read analytical charts and graphs allow service providers and administrators to assess overall network health quickly and easily. It also allows them the ability to closely examine areas with less than optimal call quality with the click of a mouse. VQM looks at the most important aspects of voice calls: Mean Opinion Score (MOS), delay, jitter and dropped or out-of-order packets. Administrators have the ability to perform data searches by any given parameter, including date, day, time, extension, VLAN, IP address, among others. Multi-term searches are even more powerful and allow administrators to pinpoint specific data by combining search terms such as searching for traffic on a specific extension on a specific day in a specific time range. This greatly expedites troubleshooting and problem resolution by reducing the amount of time spent parsing through unwanted or unneeded data.
"As midmarket customers embrace IPT, there is an increasing need for simple, integrated toolsets to drive quality and repeatability in the VoIP environment. These tools should offer reporting, trending and call-by-call visibility to allow for rapid trouble isolation and fine-grained optimization," said Robert Mason, principal research analyst, Gartner.
"Our approach to VQM stems from our desire to make ADTRAN platforms the easiest on the market to install and manage," said Tim Saunders, vice president of product management, ADTRAN Enterprise Networks Division. "When users experience poor voice quality, most don't know what type of problem they are experiencing; they just know it sounds bad. Our VQM implementation allows network administrators to quickly identify the problem(s) and investigate the source of the trouble quickly and easily via a non-invasive graphical interface."
VQM is currently available as part of the AOS at no additional charge. Platforms supporting VQM include:
